That's right - I'm angry. I'm angry that it's 9/11....I'm angry that something like this happened and it still hurts to watch and think about it. I guess those emotions are not totally a bad thing - I mean, after all, it means I haven't forgotten. We should never forget what happened that day. Yes, I remember exactly where I was that day, how I felt that day - as I'm sure, most do.
I'm angry that we are dealing with the controversy of the proposed mosque in New York. Yes, we are in the land of freedom and are blessed with religious freedom, however, it is deeply regrettable that this subject is so controversial on a day that is so difficult for family members of 9/11 victims and so close to an area that is associated with radical extremists of the Muslim faith. And, NO, I'm not saying that all Muslims are radical - I'm not saying that at all. Every religion has their own fanatics. I'm just saying that there is no getting around the conflicting feelings. The Muslim religion is supposedly a peaceful religion - if that is the case, then I think they should respect the emotions that are evoked with the proposed mosque and search for a more suitable location for their proposed expansion. Why stir the embers?
So, now I feel better and I hope that everyone takes a moment of reflection today to decide what is important to you and if you are strong enough to back these feelings up if they are challenged. After all, it IS your right and it is what our country is based on - strength of character!!!! Don't EVER back down on what you feel is right.
God Bless America!!
