I am finally getting around to posting the final chapter in the Tide story...........the final total:
For those unfortunate few that missed the first two chapters:
Chapter One:

Chapter Two:

TA DA:
That's right - 39 and ONE HALF - not 40!!!! Scoop shows what was left after measuring (carefully) for the last load.
How do they get away with it? Ha ha - it's a little symbol by the "40" possible loads....see it? Evidently, I, like most - probably, NEVER paid attention to it.
Now, if you paid any attention to how things are supposed to work, you'll know SOMEWHERE on that box, there is an explanatory legend. Here it is (although, as you can tell, not the best picture taking was accomplished - still, you get the point):
* (I can't type the exact symbol) - Contains 40 loads as measured to lower line on scoop. This wording is on the end where it tells you about measuring (HOW DID I MISS THAT).
AND, to beat it all - on my new box of Tide (which is on my lap right now, so I could copy that statement above) - CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A TYPO? Can you believe it? They have "iine" instead of line. I can honestly say that I'm shocked and did not see this until this very moment. Now, do not go scouring through my blog, because I was not and am not a perfect proofreader. Just ask my husband - I think everytime I post, he says - "Hey, you need to go in and fix ............." - I attribute it to aging eyes - LOL!!
On the opposite end of the box the statement continues more in detail after that line (iine) I typed above. It says:
The precise number of loads from each package will vary slightly with the method of scooping and settling during shipment.
In conclusion, which I think you'll agree, the reason I'm short a half a load worth of detergent, is evidently from the "settling during shipment", because we ALL KNOW that during this experiment, I measured each and every load VERY CAREFULLY. SO, ok - if I lost a half a load during shipment, where did it go? There are no openings in the box - did it combine within itself? How did that happen?
Don't get me wrong - this was all in fun. I love my Tide Free & Gentle Detergent and I am a much better person, in the laundry room - at least, for completing this experiment. In fact, now when I do laundry, I have to STOP myself from grabbing that pen that is still in there and keep myself from marking ANOTHER LOAD.
